Development-Life Skills
Development of Life Skills focuses on building a participant’s ability to live more independently by strengthening everyday skills, confidence, and self-management. These supports are designed to empower individuals to take greater control of their lives while improving participation in daily, social, and community activities.
Self-Management Capacity Building & Support Coordination
Participants are supported to develop the skills needed to manage their NDIS plans effectively. This includes guidance in engaging service providers, creating service agreements, maintaining records, processing payments through the NDIA, and overseeing their supports. The aim is to build confidence and independence in handling all aspects of plan administration and management.
Increased Social and Community Participation
Group-based training is provided to help participants enhance their independence in daily personal activities. These sessions, conducted with two or more participants, encourage social interaction while developing practical skills that support active participation in the community.
Individual Skills Development and Training
Tailored one-on-one support focuses on building essential life skills based on individual goals. This may include public transport training, communication skills, and developing the confidence needed to engage in social, recreational, and community activities.
Improved Relationships
Support is provided to help participants develop social and interpersonal skills, enabling them to build and maintain positive relationships. This includes guidance for participating in social settings, improving communication, and fostering meaningful connections within the community.
Improved Daily Living Skills
Individualised training is delivered in the participant’s home to enhance everyday living skills such as personal organisation, household tasks, and routine management. In addition, training and guidance are provided to carers to support them in effectively caring for a person with a disability.
Overall, Development – Life Skills supports aim to increase independence, build confidence, and improve the overall quality of life by equipping participants with the skills they need for daily living and community participation.
